Ultimately, however, I want to switch to the MOWA BB.

I don't think that my stock cranks are compatible with that type of external bearing BB. How can I tell which cranks are compatible? Also, what kind of BB threading does my frame have?

i'm assuming your bike has square cranks, which should fit the un55, but you need to measure the spindle length, and you have to remove the cranks to do so. there is a special tool you can buy that helps remove the cranks.

for the mowa BB, you definetly need new cranks.

I bought a crank tool. I'll pull them off tonight and get a measurement on the BB.

I know that the MOWA BB will require new cranks, but what type? It's not that big of a deal since I'll be putting in the Shimano anyway.

So did the Schwinn Sidewinder end up having a 68x118 bottom bracket?
I went to Amazon and there are lots of sizes to choose from with the Shimano UN55.
EDIT : Nevermind, I see that skliros hijacked this thread and confused me by mixing in posts for the BB of a Mongoose Seekr in a Schwinn Sidewinder post!
I'll have to figure this out myself.
