Very cool & interesting for me. That was an active mine until a few years before I was born. I traveled with my dad on biz trips sometimes & remember going to Rudy once after it had shut down. Don't recall now why we were there. We lived in Ky 'till I was 8 yrs old & still get back there now & then. I miss the woods & lightning bugs in the summer, but not the mosquitoes!

You forgot the humidity! Gotta LOVE the crazy humidity! :P
For me, there's no place like home, river bottoms, hills and hollers, lakes and little towns dotted all over the map. I live in a very rural area, only one red/green/yellow stop light in the whole county lol..

Night time riding with my son, reflectors, lights, all of that boring stuff lol..
I put a 660mm handlebar, a set of SunRace thumb shifters and the Suntour NVX fork from the Schwinn on his Deception. It all made it much more pleasant to ride. 75-80mm travel, he's happy, he only weighs about 110lb, but almost as tall as I am. :)
New grips and bar ends for the Schwinn, waiting for the dropper seatpost..

Spent a few miles riding with 2 different ODI grip styles today

The Rogue 130mm, w/flange (kinda BMX or moto style) And the Ruffian MX 130mm, half waffle /no flange
The half waffle sux on bare hands, Excellent with gloves! The Rogue, well, it's going to stay on the Schwinn

Man its funny my build is almost the same. I went with Suntour XCR 100mm air shocks (White), Race Face Evolve bars and seatpost, Shimano Alvino drivetrain and changed out to a sealed BB, Spook 40mm headset, integrated Shimano brake levers and trigger shifters (not sure of model, also have to hide spending from wife), red grips and platform pedals, new saddle (white), kept the 3X7 but put a Shimano Megarange freewheel, and 2.3 Bell Kingpin tires. I am (trying to be patient) waiting for my backordered Mavic Crossone wheelset from Jenson, been on backorder for a month now. I will put pics up when my new wheels come in.

Nice. I took the opposite approach. I put specialized nimbus 700x 35 tires on it changed the handlebar and put shimano atl us trigger shifters on It. Changed the drive train to an 8 speed and put a bigger crank set on it from a road bike. Changed both derailleurs then strapped a rear rack and fenders on it. It's a great bike and now I cruise at 19mph.

Thank You! T and J W!

Your take on the Ascension sounds pretty interesting! Post pics when you can and show us what you got!

I put some Maxxis Raze 700x35 on my Deception for a test & was shocked at how much faster it was. Then just put one on the back & left a WTB Stout up front. Still very fast and cornered really well in the dirt. Looked weird as heck though...This was with a Voodoo rigid fork & before many more upgrades...

Damn that RST fork looks good. Can't wait to get mine back. I think I'll adopt your attitude Tomcat. I'm gonna ride that RST fork CRACK AND ALL. Especially if the crack has not gone all the wat thru to the inside of the steerer tube...............LOL
