I'm at it again. Building a bike for my little cousin. I was gonna sell my leftover skyways, but I promised my little cousin i'd build him a bike. Got a mirraco frame off ebay, and some rock bros pedals off ebay for 14 bucks! I got most of the stuff watched on ebay, but still gonna cost an arm and a leg to build this thing.

Man..i miss the BMX bike I had as a teenager..Was an MCS spyder (nickel plated alloy frame)...I had blue anodized everything on it from sunlite or suntour cant recall...The wheels/hubs,brake handle and brake,2 piece crank, goose neck, handle bars...I moved to my sisters in another state and when I moved out I couldn't take it with me as I flew back home, not driven so had to leave it....a few years later she calls me and tells me she threw it out along with an older Remington .22 rifle I had..That bike would be worth a good chunk of change right now...smh

Looks like it will be nice build..ive been looking at older gt and mongoose frames..getting an itch but its not practical for me to go with a BMX as much as id like to have one again..Ill be watching your build though 8-)

Thanks. This one is on a much tighter budget than my son's sting pro build (I tried to go all out for that one). I'm also on a tighter time line (before the end of summer). Going with black, white, and gold on this one. Bought this frame because it still had the BB bearings in it, but may need toget a new one. I got the english conversion kit I bought for my former SS project, and might go that route.

Falkon, unfortunately I saw this a couple weeks ago and have been obsessing over it ever since, http://www.harobikes.com/bmx/frames/lineage-frame. And I don't even ride Freestyle BMX any more!

I want that thing if all I do is build it up and sit and look at it. I want that Teal! Normally I'd get a frame and change the parts from my current bike to the new. But this stuff is so new school, I don't know how much is compatible. This frame has an integrated headset so I'd need a new headset. It also has a "Mid" bottom bracket, so again I'd need new BB and cranks. If I built it, it could definitely get pricey.

With a Mid BB the bearings just press into the frame. With American the bearings are in cups and the cups go into the frame. It just eliminates the need for the cups. It's kind of the same for the integrated headsets. The "cups" are made as part of the frame so the bearings just drop in. Building a new bike should be a lot easier nowadays. No headset cups to beat into a frame, no BB cups to beat in, and no race to to mess up while trying to find a way to put it on without a proper tool (assuming you have a fork with integrated race).

Lol. I was looking at an integrated headset frame, but the black and green one i wanted wasn't showing up. There was a gorgeous electric blue frame, but i was set on green (i still have my orbit z in green lol).

This frame is American BB then. It has cups, but still takes sealed bearings. Looking for a crank set that comes with a sealed BB for cheap, but that ain't happening. I found one for cheap, but comes with a caged bb. Just got a sealed venzo headset and other stuff. Need to get more.

So, I bought this free agent fork. I don't know what's up with this piece welded in. The bolt hole is huge, and not in deep enough for me to install the star nut. Any answers on what it could be?
