DK Cleveland

Well, I have heard next to nothing about this bike. At $249, it seemed out of line for a Walmart BMX. I watched the reviews on Walmart.com and got no help there. It seems the reviews for one of the Hyper bikes kept ending up on the page for this one.

Anyway, it went on clearance for $169, so I bought one. The pic below is after the reflectomy and the stickerectomy. I took the two pegs off as well. They are heavy.

The frame appears to be partially chromoly. The down tube, seat tube and head tube and top tube seem to be chromoly. I am skeptical about the rear triangle.

Tonight I'm going to take it apart and reassemble it to make sure it is all done right. I'll be able to give a better report about it then. So far the only glaring oversight is that the rear tire was installed in the wrong direction.

Dang. 169 I might have to go check out my wallyworld and see what they got
But how's it working for you any problems with the bb or hubs and the reviews
Kept saying that the driver continualy fell apart I'm just wondering cause I'm in the
Zone for a new bike. And this caught my eye for 249 compared to bike shop bikes

That's what i was reading. I think those reviews were for the hyper bike. I kept catching comments about aluminum frames and replacement parts from hyper. I think the review system is not very good. I also think there are some bitter lbs owners out there that are bombing the dk bikes on the website.

I didn't get to ride any today. Rain all day.

I've ridden around a bit and i can't find any serious flaws with this bike. I am no BMX expert, especially since 1990 or so. I used to ride Flatland BITD.

I traded emails with the guys at DK. They are aware of the problems with the reviews at the Walmart site and are working to get them fixed. It appears some lbs's are bombing their reviews as well.

They told me the frame is chromoly top, down and seat tubes. The bars are full chromoly as well as the cranks which are three-piece. The rest is high ten i believe. The rear cassette hub and driver is no different than what is on some of their completes sold at lbs. The cost savings is achieved through small parts and using tires they make.

The top tube is 20.5". The bars are 8.25" rise. I haven't measured any other points of geometry but would be happy to if you have any questions.

I hope these bikes do well and bring decent bmx products to the mainstream. The cost of bmx has always kept it a nische sport in my opinion.

BTW, the guys at DK say they know of no problems with the rear hub on any of the models.

I believe this bike is a steal at $169. I'll enjoy riding with my daughter and busting my butt showing her how dad used to do it.

The bottom bracket is mid and sealed. Just checked my email from DK. Let me know how to check the hubs and I'll be happy to.
