another GMC Denali

Has anyone upgraded the groupset on the Denali? If which one will work on it? None of the groupsets I'm finding will work with a 7spd.

You won't find a seven speed road groupset perse but you can piece together one from Shimano Tourney parts. Or you could get some cheap wheels and a Tiagra groupest, something like this.

A word of advice though, the Tourney stuff sucks because instead of being a proper STI lever with the second lever behind the brake lever, you have a thumb button on the inside of the shifter housing. This is far less ergonomic and you can only shift one way from the drops. I would also jump from a triple to a compact double because you keep most of the same gear range without the headache.

Can you go 10 speed? Yes. I've done it. You will need a campy compatible wheelset. There are a few builds on this section. I used a SRAM apex 2x10 group, but using an FSA gossamer crankset with my previous SRAM crankset chain rings moved to it. My Wheelset is a stars circle aviate 8/9/10 speed good for SRAM and shimano. I'm using a shimano 105 10 speed cassette.

I may go with these wheels then:

Glad you shared that site, Kalon. There are some awesome deals on there.

Going with the Shimano Claris group for now.

I swapped out the stock tires for some Conti Gatorskins(700x28) and have the crankset almost swapped out. Fixed cup from the non sealed BB is giving me hell.
Swapping those two things so far make the bike feel A LOT lighter. The stock tires are heavy for road tires.
